2019

Dr. Scott Kerrigan, Pathologist
Dr. Scott Kerrigan (and his family) have generously supported our community’s fundraising efforts for the Health Centre in a variety of ways for over a decade – most recently pledging their support to the Cancer Care, Close to Home campaign.

Since the early days of the campaign, Dr. Kerrigan’s valuable medical knowledge and personality is helping bring the Laboratory at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) to life. From accompanying Foundation Staff on visits to community donors, providing presentations to the Campaign Cabinet, and taking donors on behind the scene tours of the Lab – mirroring the journey a patient sample takes start to finish, Dr. Kerrigan’s passion, is helping engage and inspire our community in a new way.

In simple terms, philanthropy can be defined as Giving of your Time, Talent and Treasure. There is no doubt that philanthropy is an important value within the Kerrigan household, as evidenced by the entire family’s participation at Our Hospital Walk/Run over the years. In more recent years, son Max has volunteer at the Walk/Run and numerous other community fundraising events.

2018

Dr. Bill Hodge, Radiologist
Dr. Bill Hodge (and his family) made a leadership donation to the Seeing More Clearly campaign to help our community purchase its first MRI and other diagnostic imaging equipment. His gift inspired others in our physician community and community at large, to support the campaign.

During the development and conceptualization of the Seeing More Clearly campaign, Dr. Hodge also provided the Foundation with valuable medical knowledge to build in inspiring case for support and he was quoted in the campaign’s official brochure.

His presence and prestige was felt at all community celebrations throughout the campaign, lending credibility and advocating for the value of making donations to the Foundation to enhance healthcare, close to home.

And today, during the Cancer Care, Close to Home Campaign, we can credit our ability to purchase a second CT scanner to his foresight. Ensuring the construction of our incredible Health Centre he recognized that one day, there would be capacity to add another machine – and that time is now.

2017

Dr. Lukmann Waja, Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician
Dr. Lukmaan Waja has given countless hours. He has served as a trustee on the Foundation Board since 2014 as Medical staff representative. Dr. Waja (and his family) have made significant donations to the Health Centre and are also monthly donors. In 2015, Dr. Waja helped the Foundation host donors during Inspiring Leaders an opportunity for community leaders to experience firsthand the impact their donation has on our hospital, and the impact our hospital has on patients and their families. Dr. Waja has voiced radio commercials, authored letters to our community, appeared in brochures, newsletters, and ads, attended and was the guest speaker at fundraising dinner. He has also connected the Foundation families and patients who are willing to provide testimonies of care inspiring others in our community. It is an honour to recognize Dr. Waja with this award.
