What are the Asclepius Awards?

  • Career Excellence Award
    Recognizes a physician who has demonstrated sustained excellence in delivery of clinical care in its broadest sense over the course of their career.

  • Jean Rochefort Teaching Award
    Honours a physician who, during his/her career has exemplified excellence in teaching future physicians.

  • Community Partner Award
    Honours a physician who, during his/her career, has shown initiative, leadership and involvement in projects.

  • Rookie Physician of the Year Award
    Honours a new physician who has made outstanding contributions to the medical staff community and are in their first four years of practice.

  • Dr. A. Murray Pace Crystal Heart Award
    Recognizes a physician who supports the healthcare of their community through philanthropy.

The Career Excellence Award
The Career Excellence Award is intended to recognize a physician who has demonstrated sustained excellence in delivery of clinical care in its broadest sense over the course of their career. This physician also exemplifies that medical profession’s highest values: commitment to services, outstanding leadership, career achievement, dedication to patient care and support for colleagues, staff and hospital administration.

The Jean Rochefort Teaching Award
Honours a physician who, during his/her career has exemplified excellence in teaching future physicians and inspires each of them to learn and grow in their chosen field of medicine. Nominators should take into consideration the quality of clinical teaching, impact and breadth of teaching provided, and mentorship to learners and other teachers provided by the candidate.

The Community Partner Award
Honours a physician who, during his/her career, has shown initiative, leadership and involvement in projects that embody the spirit of genuine partnership and benefit the overall community. Significant contributions to support the mission of health to the community may include research, teaching, practice, and/or outreach programs.
